Piston rings in compressors play a decisive role in the sealing and efficiency of compression. Piston rings for dry-running applications make a significant contribution to reducing the operating costs of a machine. At the same time, they actively support the transition to a more environmentally conscious society and facilitate compliance with stricter environmental legislation.
The materials we use for dry-running seals and guides in piston compressors are characterized by specifically matched filler contents and offer decisive advantages.

Types
Piston ring with gas-tight joint
The piston ring with gas-tight joint achieves an excellent sealing effect. The special design of the joint reduces leakage to a minimum. The differential pressure is limited to max. 15 bar. To ensure the optimum sealing effect of the piston ring, it must be inserted in the correct pressure direction during installation.
Piston ring with overlapped joint
The piston ring with overlapped joint offers an excellent sealing effect and is particularly suitable for sealing specifically light gases. Due to the bending load that occurs and the associated risk of breakage at the overlaps, piston rings with this joint design should be used in compressors with pressure differences of up to max. 15 bar.
Piston ring with scarf joint
The piston ring with scarf joint is used to seal pressure differences above 15 bar. This butt joint design offers particularly good tightness during the running-in period.
Piston ring with straight joint
The piston ring with straight joint is used in particular in sealing systems for very high pressures above 15 bar. Several sealing elements arranged in series can gradually reduce high pressures.
Complete piston
The complete piston includes a piston made of metal, usually aluminum alloys, with a permanently attached high-performance sliding lining for maximum running smoothness and efficiency. It is customized according to the respective application parameters and supplied together with a corresponding piston ring.
Individual piston ring sealing systems
Sealing systems consisting of several piston rings can be provided for special applications. This applies, for example, to pistons that are exposed to very high pressures or to pistons with particularly high demands on the service life of the seal. The strategy is to distribute the total pressure difference over several sealing elements. This keeps the load on each individual sealing element to a minimum. This results in reliable and customized solutions that are precisely tailored to your specific requirements.
